Honors of the AssociationThe American Association of Phonetic Sciences (AAPS) recognizes outstanding achievement in insightful and rigorous research, outstanding teaching, or other distinguished professional contribution with the AAPS Honors of the Association. The recipients of this award will have demonstrated distinguished contribution to the field of physiologic, acoustic, and/or perceptual phonetics and is the single honor presented by the Association. Members are encouraged to nominate individuals who are well known throughout the nation and the world for a lifetime of achievements in the phonetic sciences. Honors may be awarded to an individual whose contributions have been confined to a single or multiple areas within the phonetic sciences. Although typically conferred near the end of a professional career, the quality of the achievements and their impact on the professions are of greater importance than length of service. A committee of three members will be selected annually by the AAPS Executive Committee to review nominees presented by the membership and to determine if other nominees are worthy of nomination. The committee will present a slate of potential awardees to the Executive Committee by 15 October of each year. The Executive Committee will then determine if the slate is to be approved. The slate may include one or more nominees. The Honoree(s) will be awarded the AAPS Honors of the Association at the annual AAPS meeting.
